Kevin Smith’s 1999 biblical comedy “Dogma” was primarily filmed in Pennsylvania, with some additional filming in New Jersey. The opening scene is set in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The scene was indeed actually filmed at the Asbury Park Boardwalk.

The church featured prominently in the film is supposedly located in Red Bank, New Jersey, but can actually be found Pittsburgh. Later in the film, Loki and Bartleby, played by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, attempt to bring the apocalypse upon Earth in front of the church.
